Provide students with resources for self-monitoring

Self-monitoring depends on the two processes of goal-setting and feedback from others and oneself. You will motivate the students to self-monitor by helping them improve their use of self-assessment and peer-review to see if the methods they used were successful in achieving learning goals.

Use questioning as a scaffolding for independent learning

The goal here is a gradual, step-by-step transition of responsibility from the teacher to the student. Teachers must build productive classroom dialogue, put higher orders, open-ended questions, respond flexibly to student responses to encourage thought, problem-solving skills, and deeper understanding.

Offer models of behavior

Encourage your students to model their behavior. For example, by teaching them how the categorization of information will make it easier to remember.

Develop communication that includes learning-focused learning

It allows students to become more aware of the steps involved in learning, to understand their unique learning style, and to help them express their thoughts.

Provide written and/or oral reviews on homework and classwork

Use the power of your relationship with students to demonstrate a passion for learning. If you express a passion for learning, your students are more likely to have a deep, optimistic emotional link to learning that will motivate their desire to continue learning. For teachers who unleash their enthusiasm for learning, students in all grades can learn new ways of learning for inspiration and joy. Expect self-motivation rather than conformity over time.

Direct students to imagine how they're going to feel when they know something new. Enable volunteers to explain their feelings after learning something. Ask students to imagine what the finished project will look like, if possible.

Encourage students to tell a friend about their learning goal and to get their help. This allows students to verbalize their goals, which helps them internalize it. Students of all ages are inherently social, so having peer support can be very motivating.

Coach students to set goals and develop a learning plan:

Help students in creating their learning objectives that are both practical and demanding. Perhaps the most motivating goals are those that enable us to use our strengths. But students also have expectations set for them based on a one-size-fits-all curriculum or their particular learning deficits — think of an individualized education program — which can be intimidating.

If you have students who are currently not inspired to learn, consider helping them to build learning goals based on their specific learning strengths.

Teach students how best to structure their independent learning time. Our brains have not evolved to do a few hours of physics without a break. We advise students to schedule a change of emphasis every 20 minutes of independent research. We should get up and drive at least every hour or so. They will use different locations to learn new content. For starters, we use an outdoor patio table, an especially comfortable chair, an indoor office desk for work. Because memory for locations is powerful, using many locations to help with learning memory.

Encourage students to be self-disciplined learners:

Help them in committing to them to start achieving their goals. Assist them in expressing their dedication to self-organization, maintaining their concentration over time, and reducing time-loss distractions. Help students learn to identify themselves as individuals who are committed to achieving their goals. This would also be important to remind them time and again that, in the road of learning, good people will forgive themselves if they make mistakes and then move on.

Teaching students to self-assess:

Ask students to write a letter to a classmate who will be in the classroom next year. Upon completion of a course, class, or book, students are asked to summarize what they have learned and advise potential students on how to solve any learning challenges. This strategy provides an opportunity for the student to focus on virtually any subject.
Have students pair up and take turns sharing what they've learned. This activity — we call it "brain buddies"—gives students the ability to learn from each other. Will partner can, for example, recall various aspects of a lesson. So they can have different points of view, so that, as they interact, each partner may learn to better understand a range of viewpoints.

Technology makes it easy to learn. You can find a lot of learning tips on the internet. There are instructional videos, games, and so many tools to make learning easier. You can read books, different forums, watch videos, use theme-related apps, and gain practical knowledge.

As an independent learner, you must be up to date with the topic that you are learning, or you would not be able to compete. Social media will give you instant information about the topic you're looking for.

Technology makes it easy for you to communicate with others:

With the technology in hand, you don't need to switch to the person you want to get the information and learn from. There are a variety of forms such as emailing, texting, instant messaging, voice and video calls.
